Wednesday's love list, and a free chant to Tara.

.

This week is the Hindu festival Shivaratri. According to popular legend, Shivaratri marks the wedding day of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Some believe it also commemorates the night that Lord Shiva performed the dance of primal creation, preservation, and destruction. I’ll be attending a special kirtan Shiva celebration later this week – can’t wait.

I planned to give you a chant to Shiva for this Wednesday’s love list, but something else showed up in my newsfeed this morning that feels more appropriate for our aims today. The link below leads to an offering from Deva Premal and Mitten – a free download of their beautiful version of the mantra Om Tare Tutarre Ture Swaha.

The chant is a Tibetan Buddhist invocation to the form of the Goddess Tara: the goddess of compassion. One form of Tara is known as “the one who hears the cries of the world.” Quite appropriate for our community here.

I’ll add a video of the chant (from another artist) down further in this post. I rather like to think of all those voices in the video offering the chant to all of us here.

You can find the free download by clicking this link.

This Wednesday, or whenever you come to this page, please hold the following people in your hearts. Send them whatever good wishes, warmth, & blessing feels right. If you are so inclined, you might play the video below, and lend your own voice to the invocation of compassion.

  • Amanda, K, & H as they greet the year 4 date this weekend.
  • Lis, on her birthday this week, remembering birthdays past.
  • Ray, who is in my own thoughts today.
  • Dan, in his new life – hard won and beautiful.
  • Safe travels for Debbie.
  • Hold healing thoughts for Joanne, as she nurses her shoulder
  •

May you know love.

May you know kindness.

May you be free from suffering.

May the love that is offered find you

and bring you peace.

PS: to be added to the love list for next Wednesday’s post, send me a message.
