Suicide and Self-harm
Grief is really, really rough. It takes a toll on your mind, your body, your relationships – everything. Feeling like you’d rather not wake up in the morning is very different than thinking about actually harming or killing yourself.
If you are in crisis, call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a free, 24-hour hotline, at 1.800.273.8255. If your issue is an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Outside of the U.S., please call your nearest hospital for local resources.
Please. If your pain is too great, reach out for help. There are people who have been where you are.

What this means in simpler language: if you share something, you must link back to this site. I love that you want to share Refuge in Grief with your communities. Do not share entire posts on your site without my permission – brief excerpts with attribution, yes. Entire posts, no. I’ve seen my posts – verbatim – on other peoples’ sites, with my name in tiny, tiny letters at the very end. This makes it look like that site author wrote my article, and that is seriously rude. And illegal. Don’t do it.
My course materials and the course titles are copyrighted. My programs and program titles are copyrighted. You may not use my course descriptions in your own course descriptions, even if you link back to my site. Your students want to hear your voice, not mine.
When you comment on a blog post, be sure the words you post are your own, and only your own. If you quote someone, be sure to use proper attribution.
If you have a question about sharing something from this site, please check out the media page.
If you’d like to request an interview, guest post, guest podcast, or contribution to your anthology/project/documentary/some other awesome thing, please see the Media page for information. Thanks.
